Biography:
Hernandez returns to the Colts after being acquired from the Evansville Otters of the independent Frontier League in exchange for future considerations on June 10. He was inactive during his tenure in Evansville, and therefore did not get any playing time. Last year Hernandez batted .271 with six home runs and 27 RBIs in 67 games with the Colts.
The 23-year-old was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cincinnati Reds in 2009. Hernandez spent two years in the Reds’ organization, splitting time between their Rookie Ball Gulf Coast League, Arizona League and Pioneer League affiliates.
Now in his fourth professional season, Hernandez has a career .253 average with 10 homers and 54 RBIs in 122 games. |
